Entrepreneurship for a zero carbon society

Entrepreneurship for a zero carbon society
With escalating concerns over climate change and unsustainable energy sources, it is of great concern that the world economy has not achieved faster levels of de-carbonisation - greater action is needed. What remains is for political will and business innovation to drive large-scale deployment of existent and constantly emerging technologies.

Cambridge's First International Summit on Policy, Technology and Investment, 22nd - 24th September 2008, University of Cambridge aims to address how such large-scale deployment is to be achieved, through a politically-neutral summit of the relevant stakeholders. The summit is the first of its kind to be hosted at this famous university and aims also to establish mutually valuable partnerships between industry and research institutions as well as appropriate connections to influential political figures.

We expect some 200 delegates from local and international companies, research and university institutions as well as non-government and government organisations. Our line-up of speakers has been selected to bridge the gaps between technological innovations in clean technologies, the policies that will facilitate their development and the smart investment strategies that can stimulate their deployment.

The Summit Programme Includes:
  • Interactive presentations from industry and academic experts
  • Discussion and networking sessions
  • An exhibition of "clean" technology companies and consultancies
Confirmed companies and organisations include:

Speakers include Dr Harry Zervos, photovoltaic expert from IDTechEx; Ross Lovegrove, World-renowned industrial designer known for his work at Apple; Dr. Bernie Bulkin, Senior VC Partner at Vantage Point Venture Capital and former Chief Scientist, BP and Professor Robert Watson, former Senior Scientific Advisor to World Bank.
